McKinley is committed to partnering with stakeholders to promote, cultivate, and facilitate diversity and inclusion efforts. Within our communities, our agency strives to be a champion in embracing diversity, promoting equity and fostering inclusion.

In order to show our commitment to DEI, McKinley has established our first ever Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Liaison to heIp ensure that our conversations surrounding equality, equity, and inclusion turn into action.

January 4, 2023 | World Braille Day

World Braille Day on January 4 is celebrated to honor the birth of Braille’s inventor, Louis Braille. Braille’s gift to the world has brightened the lives of millions of people around the world who are blind or visually impaired, and they benefit from his work every day. The day also acknowledges that those with visual impairments deserve the same standard of human rights as everyone else.

January 6, 2023 | Epiphany

Epiphany, commonly known as Three Kings’ Day in the United States, is on January 6. It celebrates the three wise men’s visit to baby Jesus and also remembers his baptism, according to the Christian Bible’s events. The United States (US) Virgin Islands observe the day as a public holiday.

January 16, 2023 | Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Martin Luther King Day honors the life of a fighter for racial justice and equality. It celebrates this equality in a society that he dreamed to become color-blind. He stood up to make a difference for every race. His words spoke for every nationality, to feel no segregation.
