TYPES OF GIVING

Annual gifts support our current programs and agency needs. You may donate to one of the ongoing priorities of the agency through an annual gift of cash, a check, or stock.

Children’s Circle of Hope
McKinley’s annual gift club, which recognizes the invaluable gifts of support from our most loyal donors. Gifts may be made on an annual basis or in installments.

Capital Gifts
These gifts generally help to fund capital equipment or construction projects and are essential to the long-term operations on our campuses in San Dimas and Hesperia. Meaningful gifts to a designated program or need are gladly accepted. Giving and recognition details can be arranged through one of our development professionals.

Touching the Future Wall
A tile wall located in front of the administration building on McKinley’s campus that provides an excellent way to honor alumni, parents, children, families, service clubs, and businesses.

Endowment Gifts
These gifts are contributions that are invested, enabling McKinley to use interest that accrues on the gifts in whatever way the donors specify. This can be a particularly meaningful gift for donors, whose generosity can be felt far into the future, or even in perpetuity.

HOW YOUR COMPANY CAN HELP

Partner With McKinley
By partnering with McKinley, your company can help bring hope and comfort to underprivileged children and families while taking advantage of attractive tax benefits and public relations opportunities.

Gifts-In-Kind (GIK) are a company’s first-quality, excess inventory donated to assist those in need. Commonly needed GIK items include:

  • New clothing and shoes
  • Personal care items
  • School supplies
  • P.E. equipment
  • Tickets to cultural, educational, or sporting events
  • Awards for students, such as movie passes, games, or gift certificates to clothing stores
  • Toys
  • Gift Cards

How Your Company Will Benefit

A special tax law gives corporations a federal income tax reduction when they donate new inventory for charitable purposes. Please see your tax advisor for your specific tax benefits, and we’ll provide you with all the necessary paperwork.

The elimination of slow-moving inventory increases warehouse capacity and decreases administrative expenses.

McKinley will feature your company in McKinley’s Quarterly Newsletter and here on the website. Furthermore, publicizing your contribution in company newsletters or a corporate website will enhance your company’s image in the community.

Your partnership with McKinley provides a fitting channel for investing in the people and communities that contribute to your success.

When you give to McKinley, you can have the confidence in knowing that you are supporting a strong and highly reputable organization. For over 100 years, McKinley has been serving the needs of abused, abandoned and neglected children in the Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange counties. In addition, McKinley’s services are nationally accredited and recognized for meeting best practice standards.

From scheduling GIK pick-ups to processing documentation, our professional and courteous staff makes each donation easy and time efficient.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

McKinley owes much of its success to the generosity of its donors. Their donations have directly affected McKinley staff, teachers and students, ensuring brighter futures for our community’s children.

James E. Greene has been a friend to McKinley for over 50 years. As a past member of both the Board of Directors and McKinley’s Home Foundation, he has had a huge impact on the direction and finances of the Center. Additionally, both the Greene Auditorium and the James E. Greene Media Center (aka “Jim’s Place”) are named for his generous donations that served as the catalysts for the construction of these two projects on the McKinley campus.

Target #767 , located in San Dimas, has donated all of its “charge back” merchandise to McKinley since 2006 and partners with the LA Food Bank, which allows us to receive donations from there as well. These regular donations have resulted in substantial savings for McKinley on such items as coffee, cleaning supplies, trash liners, and diapers, and have provided much needed food items for our community families in need. McKinley is also proud to be a recipient of Target’s annual grant program, which helps fund the Center’s reading program each year.

Mr. Joseph Fan and Brighton Management first became involved with McKinley through the annual Christmas toy drive held at Fan’s daughter’s school. Fan recognized the value of McKinley’s services to children and directly contacted the development department to see how he could help. Since then, he has donated and helped raise thousands of dollars for McKinley’s holiday program and has become an ambassador for the Center within his sphere of influence.
