Peter Shin
(Joined the Board in 2022)
Peter Shin is a Senior Vice President of Client Services and a member of the Spectrum Leadership Team. Spectrum is a healthcare advertising agency with over 300+ employees, headquartered in Washington D.C., with offices in New York and Chicago.
Peter has a proven track record of directing and marketing multibillion-dollar products and cultivating brands, i.e., BOTOX, RESTASIS, ERBITUX, Transcatheter Heart Valves, iLasik, Refresh, Bydureon, and more. He has led the strategy and managed creative teams on various award-winning campaigns for both HCPs and patients.
Prior to his time at Spectrum, he was a Marketing Director at Johnson & Johnson and also a Senior Global Brand Manager at Edwards Lifesciences overseeing the North America, LATAM, EU, and JAPAC markets. Peter’s skillset is rare and hard to come by as he has experience in marketing pharmaceuticals, OTC, and medical device products. His breadth of healthcare advertising experience spans over 15 years, with insights gleaned from both the agency-side and corporate-side.
Peter has been the driving force for marketing campaigns and managed brands for the US and OUS markets. He recognizes that with the transformation of a global, connected economy, brands with a wholistic perspective (positioning, messaging, and look and feel are disseminated through domestic and foreign markets) have a strategic advantage as being recognized as global brands. He also understands and leverages the competitive advantages that global brands provide companies, such as consistency in brand image and perception, power and scope, lower marketing costs by reducing redundant development, ability to leverage ideas quickly and efficiently, and alignment of campaigns globally to ensure messaging is reinforced and engrained in the mindsets of global consumers.
What fuels Peter’s drive is his passion for helping underserved patient and physician populations. He is dedicated to creating awareness and educating patients about life-saving and innovative technologies. He led the marketing efforts for Edwards Lifesciences’ Patient Day, as the THV ambassador. He was the marketing and communications lead for the United Way’s mission to battle homelessness in Orange County, as he truly cares about making a meaningful impact in the community and banding like-minded individuals together for a common purpose. Peter works with committee chairs for various academic societies, even with past, present, and future presidents of societies to battle inequality at both an academic society and community level.
Peter started his career in healthcare advertising and has an Executive MBA from the University of California, Irvine (where he is part of Dean Ian Williamson’s Leadership Circle) and lives in Yorba Linda, California with his wife, and two kids (daughter and son).

Heidi has a tremendous passion for serving our most vulnerable, including our unhoused neighbors and our underprivileged, unaccompanied, and at-risk youth. With her adorable husband and four, fabulous kids, she has spent time building homes for parents and children in remote villages south of the border and has found these experiences to bring just as much joy and comfort to her as it has to the families served. In 2017, Heidi’s professional focus shifted to all things “home” when she began working in real estate. She has since joined the Redfin team, where she works with Redfin Rise to affect positive change in the Los Angeles and Orange County communities. She serves on the Education, MLS, and Local Government Relations committees for Orange County Realtors and is working with local nonprofit organizations to learn as much as she can about the housing crisis, affordable housing, and efforts to solve homelessness. As she learns the ropes in these areas with aspirations of affecting real and lasting change, she also continues to have a huge heart for those who have yet to find their place in this world and therefore could not be more eager to get started serving, to the very best of her ability, the children and families at McKinley.
