Available Services
Services available include one on one and small group instruction, Behavior Intervention Case Management, a free and reduced breakfast and lunch program, auditory and visual examinations, speech and language assessment and therapy, quarterly testing measuring academic progress and social skills training. The school operates for a total of 210 days per year, 180 regular school days and 30 days of extended summer school. Enrollment averages 80 students.
Instructional Program Goals: The student shall:
- Develop a feeling of self- worth , security and self- assurance
- Develop proficiency in reading and reading comprehension skills
- Develop a general understanding of spoken and written English
- Develop a general understanding of math and science concepts
- Develop the capacity to discipline him/herself to work, study, and play constructively
- Develop an awareness and respect for the people of all races, religions, creeds, cultures and nations
- Develop the ability to problem solve
- Develop the ability to work and live with others
- Develop an appreciation of good workmanship and skills in performance of tasks and projects
- Develop an understanding of representative government, democratic practices and the need for full participation of all United States citizens
- Develop an understanding of good physical and mental health and a concern for public health and safety
- Develop an awareness and interest in career education
- Develop pre-employability and employability skills as appropriate
- Develop ability and understanding of the roles of citizens as consumers
- Develop ability and understanding of the conservation of, and appropriate use of limited natural resources
- Develop an appreciation of art, drama and music
